is turning 60 years old, and they’re celebrating the milestone with a new line-up of attractions, dining options, and more for the winter of 2023.

The northern Michigan ski resort, formerly known as Boyne Highlands, originally opened in 1963 with the world’s first bubble chair lift, and keeping with that history of lift innovation, are welcoming the first six-person, high speed in the Midwest this year.

This new lift, dubbed Camelot 6, β€œoffers guests unrivaled comfort, speed, energy efficiency, and safety,” as they ride up the slopes in a heated and weatherproof bubble at six meters per second.

Beyond comfort and speed, Camelot 6 also features auto-opening and -closing mechanisms and a height-adjustable carpet conveyor. It is expected to open for the season in early December.

In addition to the chairlift, The Highlands also adds opportunities for night skiing and additional night terrain to explore.

From 5-9 p.m. skiers can hit 326 acres β€”Μύincluding four new trails: North and South Tournament, Camelot Bowl, and Valley View β€” for $25 for adults and $20 for kids and seniors.

After hitting the slopes, the resort welcomes guests to try several new dining options. Among those options is the new Waffle Cabin, located on the slopes; a pop-up chophouse at the Country Club of Boyne, and the Mexican-style restaurant ΜύZoo Bar. These options will join returning favorites including North Peak and the revamped food court.

But that’s still not all.

This year will see several new special events including the resort’s 60th anniversary celebration on Dec. 23, which will feature lift ticket deals, live music, food and drink, and more, as well as the resort’s annual Anniversary Weekend on Jan. 19-21, which offers a European-style market and fireworks.

Plus, expect upgrades to the snowmaking equipment and a new glade area on the south end.
