Most older folks remember Lelliβs on Woodward, just north of Grand Boulevard. And some remember Bennoβs. But few seem to remember an alternative when Lelliβs was too crowded: Vincenzoβs, north of Lelliβs. Diners would receive a warm welcome from Vincenzo, who checked the coats. This exuberant and warm man then took the order and went to the kitchen and cooked, serving some excellent Italian food. Was there tableside cherries jubilee or baked Alaska torched by Vincenzo after he bused the table?
