Allison Heeres and Gwen Meyer, the co-owners of Detroit’s spent the restaurant’s off-season thinking of how they could improve the space β€”Μύand they’re unveiling their reimagined business during their season opening on April 1, 2023.

β€œNot gonna lie, we are anxious about the opening. Especially with all the little and big changes we’ve been dreaming up,” Heeres said in a press release. β€œWe are problem solving and ideating to continue to bring to life a place for the community that can also serve the needs of the human team behind it.”

Located on the canals in the Jefferson-Chalmers neighborhood, Coriander Farm and Kitchen makes their β€œcasual, thoughtful local food” with their own farm-grown seasonal produce and herbs while also supporting other Detroit and Michigan farmers.

Their new spring farm-to-table menu, which will be available on April 1, will feature a wide variety of dishes including a Veggie Messa board, Michigan corn jalepeΓ±o hushpuppies, fresh-smoked salmon dip, smoked Michigan potato and broccoli salad, and much more.

But the menu isn’t the only thing changing at Coriander. Heeres and Meyer have also renovated the space, which now includes a new mini retail market that sells salads, sandwiches and local-made goods, and an event space that can hold up to 100 seated guests and will host live local music along with private and community-based events.

They are also moving away from QR codes and have extended their hours to accommodate weekday lunch and full-service on the evenings and weekends.

β€œWe used warm refurbished fixtures, bright colors, and vibrant and native plantings. We are proud that our venue gives people access to the unique canal district of Jefferson Chalmers,” Heeres added. β€œWe are dedicated to the work, and we’re taking strides every day, and with the help of our customer’s sharing their experience and flexibility with the process, we believe we are on the path to be the best we can be.”
