Birmingham is getting a new restaurant next month. Madam, based in the soon-to-open Daxton Hotel on Old Woodward Avenue, will serve up a rotating, seasonal selection of American food with a sophisticated twist.

The hotel’s flagship restaurant will focus on vegetable-forward dishes. Menu items include Venere Black Rice with wild shrimp, melted leeks, and egg yolk, Roasted Lamb Saddle with black maitake and pine-smoked tea, and a Creamsicle Mille Feuille dessert. Executive Chef Garrison Price β€” a Midwest native with 20 years of culinary experience who most recently worked at the Italian restaurants Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria and Il Fiorista in New York β€” is aiming to create playful dishes that are rooted in fine-dining techniques.

β€œMadam is going to present a fresh take on American cuisine,” says Price in a press release. β€œMy goal is to marry the classic technique I have developed over the years working alongside luminaries in the culinary world with a focus on sustainability, seasonality, and creating a minimal footprint.”

The eatery’s dining room will seat up to 80 guests. The space features a large, custom-made chandelier, oversized windows, art curated by Saatchi Art, and three-toned wood floors. An adjacent bar and lounge will also offer the restaurant’s food and drink.

β€œMadam’s menu and space speak to an effortless ability to balance whimsy and fun with a refined sensibility and worldly education,” says Owner Mark Mitchell in a press release. β€œFrom the art on the walls to the art on the plate, we’ve drawn inspiration from across the globe as well as our backyard here in Birmingham. Madam is a world-classΜύdining destination where you can stop in for wine and a burger or host a blowout special occasion celebration.”

The restaurant will be open for breakfast and lunch from Monday-Friday, dinner from Monday-Sunday, and weekend brunch. Reservations are available and can be booked via phone or email.
