Detroit is well represented on the list of semi-finalists for this yearβs James Beard Foundation Awards. In the best new restaurant category, Katoi got the nod. In the bar program division, Standby is in the running, and Lisa LudwinskiΜύof Sister Pie is among the outstanding bakers. Outstanding chefs in the Great Lakes region include Andy Hollyday of Selden Standard, James Rigato of Mabel Gray, and Nick Janutol of Forest.
The contenders were chosen out ofΜύover 24,000 online entries by a panel ofΜύmore than 600 judges from across the country.
