The Detroit Public Safety Foundation held its 2024 Women in Blue event on May 23 at the MGM Grand Detroit to honor the women who serve on Detroit’s police force and name this year’s Women in Blue Officer of the Year, Sergeant Joelle Cobb, and the Detroit Fire Department Woman of the Year, EMS Training Lieutenant Caitlin Mercer. The keynote speaker at this year’s event was Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, who talked about her respect for the women who take these roles, despite the challenges they face in the field.
