Having racked up more than 31,000 Instagram posts so far, the #bringbackthebrooch hashtag proves what Rachel Lutz, owner of the Peacock Room in Detroit, has known for quite some time. βEverything comes around again,β she says. βEven if weβre wearing older, classic pieces, we always find new ways to wear them.βΜύ
In a departure from previous seasonsβ minimalism obsession, brooches made a big impact on the fall/winter 2019 runways. Brands such as Gucci, Erdem, and Chanel each showed their own take on the accessories, which are best worn in pairs, trios, and big clusters, according to Lutz. βSometimes more is more,β she says. Her customers β both men and women β have the option to choose between sculptural floral pins and glitzy Art Deco-inspired pieces this season. Peacock Room finds pair well with other local picks, like the quirky brooches at Boro in Eastern Market and one-of-a-kind brooches at Lost and Found Vintage in Royal Oak.Μύ
If youβre looking for something really special, though, considerΜύexploring your motherβs or grandmotherβs jewelry box. A brooch, as Lutz points out, is an accessory that transcends
generations.
