The bread-free sandwich shop on E. Jefferson has announced it will open its second location in Rochester Hills. The quick-service eatery offers a 100 percent gluten-free menu that features a variety of salads, bowls, and sandwiches made on Swiss chard, turnip greens, and collard greens. Plus, warm rice bowls, soups, cold-pressed juices, housemade chips, and desserts.
Detroit Zoo welcomes giraffe calf
to 5-year-old Zara and was announced by zoo representatives on June 12. At first, the calf was underweight and had trouble nursing, but with help of the zoo’s animal care and veterinary team, he is nursing regularly and gaining weight. He is not yet visible to the public but will be introduced to the zoo’s other giraffes soon.

Hamtramck City Council votes to ban LGBTQ+ Pride flags from city property
After months of intense debate,. The resolution, which was introduced by Mayor Pro Tem and Councilman Mohammed Hassan, also bans the display or flying of flags with political or racist views. Some proponents of the move argue that Pride flags clash with their faith while opposition calls it “backwards and bigoted.”
