CREATING OPPORTUNITIES TO SUCCEED THROUGH THE PASSPORT TO SELF-SUFFICIENCY™
26 PETERBORO ST., STE. 100, DETROIT, MI 48201 | 313-576-0223 |
COTS empowers families in poverty to collaborate, thrive, and succeed in building strong households, neighborhoods, and communities. COTS offers various programs and services to assist more than 1,000 individuals daily — 60% of whom are children. COTS programs include emergency shelter for families, supportive and affordable housing, children’s services, and more.
COTS exists to disrupt poverty and is proud to be the first EMPath Certified Mobility Mentoring® Practitioner Organization. Their Passport To Self-Sufficiency™ assists families in establishing and reaching their housing, economic, health, education, and career goals as they overcome homelessness and break the cycle of poverty for themselves, the next generation, and beyond.
COTS has been a staple in Detroit for more than 40 years. Led by CEO Cheryl P. Johnson, COTS executive and directorial teams lead the organization and stakeholders in intentional partnership, mentorship, and relationship to create opportunities for everyone connected to the agency to succeed.
