Sage Hospitality Group Becomes Operating Partner of Detroit’s Shinola Hotel

Shinola joins more than 120 other hotels, restaurants, and venues in the company’s portfolio.

Commercial real estate firm has announced that has become an operating partner of the award-winning Shinola Hotel in Detroit, replacing hospitality group Mac&Lo.

The move positions Sage to oversee daily operations and management of the property and adds Shinola to the company’s extensive portfolio of over 120 luxury hotels, restaurants, and other venues across 16 states and the District of Columbia.

“We are thrilled to add the iconic Shinola Hotel to our collection of independent, luxury lifestyle properties,” Daniel del Olmo, president of hotels and restaurants at Sage Hospitality Group, said in a press release. “It is exactly these types of groundbreaking properties that underscore our commitment to becoming America’s favorite lifestyle hospitality company.”

Located on Woodward in the heart of Detroit and featured in Travel + Leisure’s “500 Best Hotels in the World” as well as Conde Nast Traveler’s “Readers Choice Awards,” Shinola Hotel has been called “Detroit’s living room” with luxury features including handcrafted millwork, custom mattresses, and wallpaper inspired by patterns discovered during renovation.

The hotel, which is named after the Detroit lifestyle brand, has 129 rooms along with six food and beverage concepts, and spacious event venues.
