East Riverfront Uniroyal Promenade to Open Next Weekend

The completion of the promenade marks the end of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy’s 20-year riverfront revitalization plan.

The has announced that it will celebrate the completion of the 3.5-mile East Riverfront with the opening of the Uniroyal Promenade.

This milestone marks the completion of the Conservancy’s 20-year and $200 million plan to revitalize Detroit’s riverfront, which attracts 3.5 million visitors each year, and connect the former site of Joe Louis Arena to Belle Isle with a series of parks and trails.

The half-mile Uniroyal Promenade is an extension of the Riverwalk located along the Uniroyal site between the riverfront and Jefferson Ave. in Downtown Detroit. It connects Gabriel Richard Park with Mt Elliott Park β€”Μύtwo of the most popular parks along the riverfront β€” and provides direct access to the Belle Isle Bridge.

The promenade will officially open next Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023. A celebratory event will take place at Mt. Elliott Park in Detroit at 10 a.m. It will feature several special guests including Mayor Mike Duggan and other founding partners, dignitaries, and community members, as well as a ribbon cutting, stroll across the new space, and more.
