After coming in second last year, the is vying for the first-place position in USA Todayβs 2023 for top science museum.
The annual 10Best Readerβs Choice awards rank different travel destinations throughout the country in categories such as food, lodging, travel destinations, travel gear and much more.
There are 20 finalists under the top science museum category this year, including Detroitβs science hub. These nominees were chosen by a panel of experts made up of USA Today editors, and relevant contributors.
βWe are once again thrilled to be considered among the nationβs best science museums and hoping to win this yearβs top spot,β Dr. Christian Greer, the president and CEO of Michigan Science Center said in a press release.
βAt Mi-Sci we strive to put people at the center of science through engaging programs and exhibitions that make STEM learning fun. We appreciate the publicβs incredible support during last yearβs contest and are looking forward to having them rally behind us in 2023.β
Last year, Mi-Sci lost the top spot to the Center of Science and Industry in Columbus, Ohio, but beat out other impressive museums including The Great Lakes Science Center of Cleveland.
This year, the museum aiming to beat out all the competition and are urging patrons to in USA Todayβs public poll, which is how the publication picks the winners.
Voting is now open for anyone aged 18 and up. Voters can vote once a day until the polls close at 11:59 a.m. on Feb. 13, 2023.
Mi-Sci is just one of five Detroit museums and destinations that were nominated for the 10Best Readerβs Choice awards. Other nominees are the Detroit International RiverWalk for , Motown Museum for , the Detroit Institute of Arts for , and Campus Martius for .
