The Detroit Zoological Society (DZS) unveiled a new design for the nearly 100-year-old Detroit Zoo water tower on May 21 as part of their rebranding project.

The Parade Company displayed the design on a miniature replica of the tower during a celebration hosted at the zoo. The tower, near I-696 and Woodward Avenue, is expected to be completed within the next few weeks. The design celebrates and highlights their beloved animals, shown peeking out of the two β€œOs” in the word β€œZoo”.

β€œWe’ve heard so many stories of the joy people get, adults and children alike, when they see the water tower” Dr. Hayley Murphy, executive director and CEO of the DZS, said. β€œThe new design will continue to spark that joy for years to come.”

In addition to the new water tower design, new timeless and modern logos for the DZS, Detroit Zoo, and Belle Isle Nature Center were also unveiled at the celebration.

As part of their re-branding project, guests can also expect a new website design for the DZS, updated features on the Detroit Zoo mobile app, including an itinerary feature and interactive map, an 18-foot wide photo op of the new Detroit Zoo logo outside the main admission gates, and the new tagline β€œWhere life connects…” that’s meant to express how the zoo and nature center bring people together to promote positive change at home and around the world.
