Hot Box Social is officially Michigan’s first licensed cannabis consumption lounge. The business — which is operated by Trucenta, the owner of the Hazel Park-based recreational provisioning center Breeze — will open this month for private events. The public will have access to the space later this year.

“Our plan is to first use the space for corporate, social, and special events,” says Nowfal Akash, chief information officer of Trucenta, in a press release. “Come summer, we’ll start scheduling events so the public can experience Hot Box Social with consumption-friendly activities like social gatherings, educational opportunities, and arts-focused activities.

“…Our hope is that Hot Box Social will be used to bring a new experience for companies hosting brainstorming meetings, friends who are gathering for private parties, and one-of-a-kind fundraisers to raise money for nonprofit organizations.”

Located at 23610 John R Road in Hazel Park, Hot Box Social features a 3,000-square-foot indoor lounge, which is outfitted with comfortable seating areas, and a 5,000-square-foot back patio. The business aims to provide a “safe and supportive environment” where guests can learn about and consume cannabis.

The business plans to staff cannabis experts to help visitors understand what products are best for them. Cannabis will not be sold on-site, but guests who wish to consume at Hot Box Social may order through a nearby licensed dispensary and have items delivered to the lounge. In addition to cannabis consumption, local caterers and food trucks will be hired for a variety of events.

Hot Box Social is the latest addition to Hazel Park’s booming cannabis community. Along with Breeze, the city is also home to the dispensaries New Standard, Skymint, Shango, Common Citizen, and Hayat Cannabis.
