Top 20 Most Dangerous Intersections in Metro Detroit

You might pass through Michigan’s most risky intersections more often than you think.

Michigan Auto Law, a metro-Detroit based law firm that specializes exclusively in handling auto accident cases, released a list of the most dangerous intersections in the state to make drivers aware of the potential danger on July 2.

By collecting and analyzing 2023 data from the Michigan State Police, attorneys at Michigan Auto Law were able to identify. Their goal is to provide drivers with information that allows them to make better decisions for themselves and their families, which may especially come in hand this Fourth of July weekend, where an estimated 2.6 million Michigan residents are expected to travel 50 miles or more from their home this year.

The crash data encompasses traffic incidents that occurred within 200 feet of an intersection, including near freeways, divided highways, and rural roads. According to the law firm, approximately one-third (30%) of all fatal motor vehicle accidents in Michigan occur at intersections.

Michigan Auto Law has set out to spread their message by launching a safety campaign, which includes placing billboards near many critical intersections that usually appear on the list each year.

    • The total number of crashes increased 68.9% over the last five years, jumping from 129 in 2019 to 218 in 2023.Μύ

    • Total crashes increased by 26.9% between 2022 to 2023, increasing from 126 to 160, moving this intersection up from its third-place position in 2022.
